MicroEnergy International (MEI) is an internationally active consulting company with headquarters in

Berlin, Germany. MEI works with financial institutions, energy product & service providers, international

development actors, and policy makers to set up sustainable clean energy finance and implementation

schemes. In this framework, MEI takes care of the overall project management (from planning through

implementation to evaluation), thereby designing, evaluating and optimising energy products and

services, and ensuring that financial instruments are tailored to the needs of the business sector and end-

users. MEI finally strengthens its activities through scientific quality management, in partnership with

research institutions worldwide and offers a variety of training opportunities.

Description of your task

Under the supervision of the Head of CCMD, the intern will have the following responsibilities:

● Support MEI’s project team in the design of methodologies and tools.

● Conduct desk research including literature screening, market research and report writing.

● Facilitate the sharing of lessons learned from previous projects in the field of energy and financial

inclusion.

● Participate in the development and institutionalization of the activities and assignments of the

competence center;

● Perform other job-related tasks as assigned.

Requirements:

We are looking for people with the right competencies and skills for the role, and who demonstrate the

personal qualities consistent with our values.

You should:

● be a student who needs to do an obligatory internship as part of his/her studies. A declaration

from the University is required.

● have an educational background in statistics, economics, sustainable development, engineering

or a related field.

● have a professional working knowledge of English (written and verbal) is necessary, knowledge of

other languages will be seen as an advantage.

● possess a logical line of thought and demonstrated interest and/or experience in designing

assessment tools.

● have an advanced knowledge of MS Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel); knowledge of other

software (e.g. Stata, GIS) will be seen as an advantage.

● be a team player with strong communication and quantitative skills, as well as proactive attitude

to tasks and responsibilities.

● have a demonstrated ability to work in a fast-moving environment with changing needs and

deadlines.

The following are the possible bachelor’s or master’s degree thesis themes available within CCMD:

● Development of environmental impact assessment indicators

● Socio-economic assessment at the water energy nexus

● Techno-economic analysis of hybridised energy systems

● Potential for economic savings of clean energy transition for SMEs

● Regional and national policy implications on climate resilience in the Small Island Developing

States (SIDs)

● Progress monitoring and review of the Sustainable Development Goals
